At about 26,000 people strong, Easton PA is a unique town rich in history and culture that sits where the Lehigh and Delaware Rivers meet. Centre Square, also known as ?The Great Square?, was the site of a public reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 1776?one of only three public readings given. George Washington and Ben Franklin crossed the Great Square on their way to Bachmann?s Tavern, which still stands with 70% of the building?s original fabric. Today Centre Square hosts farmers markets, art festivals, and serves as a gathering place for events in downtown Easton throughout the year. Home of the Crayola Factory, the renowned State Theatre, The National Canal Museum, the longest consecutively running farmers market in the country, Lafayette College, and many shops and restaurants, there is plenty to do in Easton -- but if you wish to travel you are less than 90 minutes from NYC and Philadelphia. Easton is the farthest city to the east in the Lehigh Valley.
